I am "Air Force brat" and grew up all over the country. I have been a Christian as long as I can remember, and was a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church when I entered college. I graduated from high school in Delaware, and attended the University of Virginia, where I majored in psychology. I began to attend the Episcopal Church while a student, and was confirmed while I was in seminary (GCTS).
I have been engaged in ministry to individuals and small groups since I became a college student in 1965. I was a student member of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, and after graduation I became a volunteer for and later an intern staff member of IVCF, after which I was in ordained ministry. I have degrees from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (MATS, in 1976) and Virginia Theological Seminary (M.Div., in 1982). I have served four parishes in the Episcopal Church, from 1982-2009. Upon retirement I was received into the Anglican Church of North America.
I met my wife, Mary, at Gordon-Conwell and we were married in 1975. We have two children, Andrew and Elizabeth, who are each married and have three children apiece.
